for consumer agents like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini to become really good, the core business incentives and metrics need to flip from engagement to satisfaction.
a company focused on engagement will focus on having their users spend increasingly more time in their app or ecosystem.
but once the core metric becomes time-to-satisfied-task-completion, it flips: now they’re incentivized to give people what they need quickly, efficiently, and effectively.

Coding was the fastest part of building this app. That one fact rewrites how a software company should be organized.
A 21-agent team running 4 parallel sprints inside Claude Code shipped from idea to App Store submission in 72 minutes. The actual code generation took less time than the spec dictation, less time than the design review, less time than the ticket-writing. The activity that has dominated every software project for 50 years became the throwaway step.
The labor pyramid that built every tech company was downstream of one assumption: engineers were the scarce resource because compiling intent into syntax was hard. Specs, tickets, and review existed to ration engineering hours. The entire org chart, sprint structure, code review process, and engineering manager hierarchy was a giant queue management system for one expensive resource.
That resource is no longer expensive. The second-order effects are wild. Sprint planning was a tool for queueing engineering throughput. Design handoff was a tool for spending engineering tokens carefully. Code review was insurance against expensive engineering mistakes. All three rituals were calibrated for a constraint that has now collapsed.
The new bottleneck is upstream. Whoever can spec, ticket, and design with precision is the new constraint. The work that used to be context for engineering became the entire workflow. Engineering is the cheap step that gets you 95% of the way there. The other 5% is wherever the spec was sloppy.
The code writes itself when everything before the code is right.

Ali Yahya on how the crypto founder archetype has shifted:
“There’s a strong sense that in order for crypto to succeed, it has to work with the system as opposed to trying to overthrow it.”
“The vibe back when I joined was very cypherpunk and anarchic. Code as law was better than government law, and we would ultimately build a parallel financial system that would wholly replace the existing one.”

the current set of photo products (apple photos or google photos) are so deeply broken that it’s no longer even funny.
when you really think about it photos are the densest behavioral corpus most ppl own from locations, ppl, food, relationships, health, taste, regressions, & moods but the dominant ui is still grid of shit ton of squares sorted by time.
apple/google have nibbled at this w/ memories & face clustering but it’s all decorative. nobody is treating the library as a layer for understanding the person. that’s a huge huge opportunity for an ai native experience. obviously non trivial to do well, but it’ll be fun to push boundaries here.

Eddy Lazzarin on what AI unlocks for programmable money:
“What was a big theme over the last five years in crypto? Programmable money, right? Are we giving up on programmable money? Honestly, I don’t think so.”
“Now we have programs that you can write with just a couple words in a conversation with a bot.”
“It’s kind of uncanny to be able to sit down and say, okay, here’s four different really high quality crypto APIs that require calling smart contracts and signing some transactions — stuff that would’ve given me pause in the past — and now I babysit a terminal for a couple hours and kind of have a conversation and now I have working code.”
“If you connect that with programmable money, now we have money that moves as quickly as you can talk to it. That’s insane.”

Digital tools let us think beyond the constraints of the physical world. A page in a paper notebook only exists in that one notebook, but a digital file can be viewed and edited many ways simultaneously.
File over app gives users ownership over their data while enabling many modalities to coexist. It’s incredibly freeing because you are not limited to one maker’s tools or perspective. It’s as effortless as pointing two different tools at the same .md file.
The .md format is a Schelling point that tool makers have organized around, and is an increasingly a diversified ecosystem of coexisting utilities.

A lot of critique around “how is memorizing ffmpeg software engineering?”.
Well, every benchmark can be overfit to and memorized. You can memorize all the bugs in SWE-Bench too. ARC AGI might solve this by having a hidden set of games you can’t look at. Getting 100% on ProgramBench does not mean we’ve achieved AGI.
However, in practice, most good models will regress in other obvious ways if they try to brute force memorize these programs. In practice, this is not how frontier models are built. We can also trivially test for memorization by comparing it to the source implementation.
The bet here is: a bottoms-up implementation of a real-world tool is a very long horizon high utility task. If models can reason through building them, it probably generalizes to many more such tasks.

Dan uses @CoraComputer, which gives Codex two ways to act:

Dan has Codex create a running document for the inbox sweep. Every draft and decision goes there first.

Send the invite.
Codex drafts in Cora with Dan’s writing style, then waits for approval before anything sends.

Lee Kun-hee built the world’s largest semiconductor empire. His son just paid Korea $8 billion to keep it. And came out with more control of Samsung than the man who built it.
Lee Kun-hee left a $19 billion estate when he died in 2020. South Korea’s inheritance tax tops at 60% for major shareholders, the highest ceiling in the OECD. It exists specifically to break chaebol control across generations.
The bill: 12 trillion won. $8 billion. Largest in Korean history. Roughly 1.5x what the country collected from every other estate last year combined.
Lee Jae-yong just finished paying it this weekend. Six installments. Five years.
Here’s what he came out with:
Samsung Electronics: 0.70% → 1.67%.
Samsung C&T: 17.48% → 22.01%.
Samsung Life Insurance: 0.06% → 10.44%.
Every flagship holding moved the same direction.
Here’s how. Samsung’s share price doubled during the AI semiconductor rally. Family wealth grew faster than the tax could shrink it. Hong Ra-hee sold $1.4B in Samsung Electronics this January to fund her tranche. The sisters sold across affiliates. Lee Jae-yong didn’t sell a single share. He paid his $2 billion with dividends and personal loans backed by the very stock the tax was supposed to force him to liquidate.
Then the art. They donated 23,000 works to the state, valued at 10 trillion won at transfer. The Lee Collection draws millions of museum visitors a year. Cultural assets don’t dilute voting shares.
The US federal estate tax tops at 40%, and most American billionaires defang it with GRATs and dynasty trusts. South Korea wrote its rules specifically without those exits.
A high enough stock and a deep enough capital market lets you write a generational tax check without losing the company.
The OECD’s most aggressive chaebol-breaker just funded Samsung’s consolidation.
